The Morgan Hill Bronco division A all-stars opened up the Sectional Tournament with a dominating 9-0 victory over Blossom Valley No. 2 at Britton on Tuesday.

Bronco A starting pitcher Brian Bradley’s complete-game two-hitter, including four strikeouts, led the way for the local all-star team. Bradley tossed 79 pitches in his seven innings of work, facing only four batters over the minimum.

In fact, no Blossom Valley runner ever reached third base, due in part to two double plays as Bradley was backed with solid defense.

Morgan Hill scattered its runs throughout the game, scoring three in the first, four in the second and one in each of the fifth and sixth innings.

Nick Hagiperos and Ryan Williams both had RBI base hits in the first, Matt Carroll drove in two runs in the second, and Robby Coy tallied an RBI in the fifth.

Coy went 2-for-3 to lead the offensive charge.

In addition, Chris Bradley had a double, while Nick George and Brian Bradley also had singles for the hometown club.

Morgan Hill’s defense shone throughout the game, especially when it came to turning double plays.

The first twin-killing came with two runners on and started with a comebacker to Brian Bradley, who looked the runners back and made the put out to first. As the Blossom Valley baserunner tried to advance to third, Morgan Hill first baseman J.P. Howard fired across the infield to Carroll at third for the easy tag.

The second double play was a high hopper over the middle infield that MH shortstop Kenny Hall snagged, stepped on second and got a throw off to first, beating the batter by a half step.

In addition, Nick Ramirez made a nice catch in the outfeild to retire the side in the fifth inning.

The Bronco A squad advances to play Los Altos No. 2, which had a first-round bye, at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at Britton.

The MH Bronco D all-star team lost its opening round game in the Britton Sectional Tournament 15-1 to San Jose PAL on Wednesday.

Rhett Ramirez walked and scored a first-inning run to give the Bronco D team a 1-0 lead before SJ PAL rallied. The Bronco D team plays Blossom Valley No. 2 at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the MH Bronco B and C all-star squads were scheduled to play their opening round games in the Sectional Tournament at Hammer School in San Jose on Friday and Thursday, respectively.

In the Pony-13 Sectional Tournament at Lou Vierra Field in Santa Clara, the Morgan Hill all-stars dropped a 10-0 decision to host Santa Clara and was eliminated. Offensively, the local Pony-13 team was only able to get three hits.

Santa Clara went on to beat the previously unbeaten Los Altos-Mountain View team twice in the championship games on Saturday to claim the section title.
