gold, five silver and two bronze medals while swimming for the El
Toro Aquatics club at the South Bay Swim League Championships held
at Independence High.
Britton Middle School student Taylor Windgassen captured two gold, five silver and two bronze medals while swimming for the El Toro Aquatics club at the South Bay Swim League Championships held at Independence High.
El Toro/Silicon Valley teammate Kiley Gunter was also outstanding, taking five silver and two bronze medals.
Both Morgan Hill residents competed in the 11-12 age group.
Eight-and-under swimmers Abby Heiser, DeNae Ontiveros and Matt Tallerico boosted the medal count with one gold, two silver; one silver; and one silver, one bronze respectively.
El Toro swimmers Katie Mains, 10, won bronze and finished fourth in the 50 and 100 freestyle.
Brother Pete Mains, 12, raised the medal count with two silvers.
The brother-sister duo are students at Jackson Elementary School and achieved 12 personal best times in 12 attempts, as did twins Katie and Jenny Obbema in the 9-10 age group.
The SBSL Champs capped a fabulous year of progress and performance for El Toro Aquatics.
The summer season has ended for the Morgan Hill-based swim club but it’s back to training for better technique and times starting Tuesday, Aug. 24.
