I am writing to ask your readers to help return Congress to the Democratic Party. Morgan Hill voters have a unique opportunity to participate in this change. In 2000 we were placed in the 11th Congressional District, which has a Republican incumbent. I believe that our community may join a national wave by electing Democrat Jerry McNerney as our representative in November.
While McNerney is a newcomer to politics, he was inspired to run for this office by the dramatic differences between his views and the incumbent, Richard Pombo.
Jerry needs your help to get his message out to the voters. A Pleasanton resident, McNerney will be coming to Morgan Hill for a fundraising event on Sunday, Aug. 15, from 4-6 p.m., to the home of Jack and Shirley Todd, 16932 LaSelva Drive.
