The Universal Xtreme Wrestling Federation returns to Live Oak High School, 1505 E. Main, on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 8pm. The show is a fundraiser for the Live Oak High School wrestling team and the card will feature Live Oak’s wrestling coach the “Raging Bull” Manny Fernandez. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the door. Doors open at 7pm.

Gavilan golf tourney, alumni game

On Friday, Oct. 8, the Gavilan College Baseball program will sponsor a Golf Tournament fundraiser at the Gilroy Golf Course. The tourney will include a noon shotgun start. All alumni, players and supporters are invited to sign up for the event. All proceeds benefit the Rams baseball program. The following day, on Saturday, Oct. 9, the Gavilan baseball program will host an Alumni Baseball Game set for the “Home of the Rams,” the Gavilan College baseball field. The game is scheduled for a noon first pitch and Gavilan baseball coach Neal Andrade said longtime Coach Bob Nickerson’s jersey will be retired at the game.

Gavilan Niners

The Gavilan Niners held their September Ace Day on Sept. 30 at the Gavilan Golf Course.

Ace for September was Elaine Rickard of Gilroy, net 28, which was also good for first place in the first flight. Second was Donna Ashmore of Gilroy, net 33. First in the second flight was Teri Swan of Morgan Hill, net 29, and second was Sylvia McGee of Morgan Hill, net 32. First in the third flight was Bette Post of Morgan Hill, net 34, and second was Joan Webwebauer of Morgan Hill, net 34.

Sept. 30 was also Beat the Pro Day. The winners were Donna Ashmore of Gilroy, Elaine Rickard of Gilroy, Sylvia McGee of Morgan Hill, and Teri Swan of Morgan Hill. Low putts went to Ashmore, and Nina Kimoto of Watsonville with 15.

Winners at short course held on Sept.10th at Emerald Hills were Phyllis Dollar of Morgan Hill who came in first in her flight and Marlene Sherwin of Morgan Hill, who came in third in her flight.

The Gavilan Niners play each Thursday morning at the Gavilan Golf Course in Gilroy.
