Morgan Hill’s second annual Jazz on the Green will take place Saturday, June 19, at the Morgan Hill Community Center’s outdoor Amphitheater, Dunne Avenue and Monterey Road.

The award-winning Britton Middle School Jazz Band will perform the program they’ll play on a European tour to Italy, Switzerland and Germany.

The free concert starts at 6:30 p.m. but concertgoers are encouraged to arrive early with blankets, lawn chairs, food and drink because 325 people attended last year and a larger crowd is expected this year.

A silent auction with wonderful prizes will help the band with travel costs. On tour they will play 18 concerts in 21 days. The final concert will be played July 12, at Morgan Hill’s Sister City in the Tuscany region of Italy, San Casciano Val di Pesa.

Britton’s Jazz Band toured Canada last year, gave a highly acclaimed performance in March as a Dixieland Festival in Monterey and was recently recorded in Reno at Tanglewood Studios by Mike Ederly. It is made up of 22 very talented young musicians, under the direction of John P. Bremis and assistant directors Richard Punches and Kirk Berkland.

Jazz on the Green is sponsored by Sister City Committee and Band Boosters.
