Charles Michael ‘Mike’ Stockam died peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Dec. 9, 2004. He was 55.

Mike was a loving, caring, honorable and loyal man who was passionate about his beliefs and feelings. He loved his family and close friends and boundlessly gave of himself for their needs. He was and continues to be deeply loved and respected by his family and many friends whom he left behind, while he patiently awaits their arrival to be reunited in a better place.

Mike loved sports, spirited debates and his job at the Morgan Hill School District as a groundskeeper, where he worked and was well known as “Big Mike” for nearly 25 years. More recently, became well known there for his tenacious loyalty and commitment to improving and protecting employee interests through union contract negotiations.

He is survived by his son Robert Stockam; daughter-in-law Shian; grandsons Taylor, Travis and Trace Stockam; mother Jane Stockam; sisters Louise (Patt) Stockam and Marie Motley of Texas; brothers Stan Stockam and sister-in-law Carol Stockam, and Eddie Stockam; nephew Don and wife Cathy Stockam, and Claude Stockam; greatnieces Megan Stockam, Dawn Stockam and Kim Eckelberger; and great-nephew Steven Eckelberger of California. He also is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins from coast to coast.

On Dec. 17, 2004, Mike was laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery with his family and many of his friends in attendance. Interment was followed by the gathering of family and friends in the home of his brother, Stan, where we grieved Mike’s passing and celebrated the life of Charles Michael Stockam, a man of great physical stature and even greater heart and spirit.

The family thanks all of those who joined us to honor Mike Stockam. Circumstances beyond the control of the family made it impossible to give advance notice in the newspaper of the Interment Service. We apologize to those who wanted but were unable to attend. You are all welcome to contact Stan Stockam at 408-778-2480 for remembrances from the service.
