Cajun food coming soon to Morgan Hill

Hello Red Phone, I was wondering if you can help me. There are
some unfinished properties on Jean Court. There are five houses
with only foundations sticking out and no work being done for the
past couple of months.

“Hello Red Phone, I was wondering if you can help me. There are some unfinished properties on Jean Court. There are five houses with only foundations sticking out and no work being done for the past couple of months. I would like to get more info on who the builder is and what are the plans. Can you help me in my quest to get some info?”

Red Phone: Dear On a Quest, Red Phone contacted Planning Manager Jim Rowe, who said the builder is Nick Gera with DBI Construction.

“The city recently granted a six-month extension on the building permits for the five home sites on Jean Court,” Rowe said. The builder suspended construction after the housing market went into decline following the onset of the economic recession. The builder would like to resume construction of one of the homes beginning in March 2011 if the local housing market continues to improve.

There you have it good caller, hope that helps.

Are their plans for Mexican holiday?

“Red Phone. Do you know if there will be a Mexico Independence Day (Sept. 16) parade in Morgan Hill?

Red Phone: Red Phone contacted resident Julian Mancias who helped local dayworkers acquire a permit last year. He said the only celebration he’s heard of this year will take place in front of Morgan Hill Foods at Main and Hale avenues. There, they will celebrate Mexico’s Independence Sunday afternoon with mariachi music, food and dancing in the parking lot. Stop by for una gran fiesta y buena comida.

New tenant coming to old Burger King

“Red Phone, I was just wondering what will be going in to the previous Burger King restaurant on Monterey Road and Tennant Avenue? Can I suggest El Pollo Loco?”

Red Phone: Dear Just Wondering, you can suggest El Pollo Loco, but the property owner is already working with a tenant. Red Phone responded to a similar question last month, and here’s what property owner Bruno Martino said: The new tenant – who he declined to disclose until the final permits are approved – is going through that process. If everything goes as planned, demolition of the old building could be done by the end of the year, with the new businesses opening in the spring.
