Cajun food coming soon to Morgan Hill

What is the plan for the old Burger King store on Edmundson and
Tennant avenues? It is looking very run down just sitting empty and
not cared for.

“What is the plan for the old Burger King store on Edmundson and Tennant avenues? It is looking very run down just sitting empty and not cared for.”

Red Phone: Dear What’s the Plan, Red Phone contacted property owner Bruno Martino, who said the new tenant – which he declined to disclose until the final permits are approved – is currently going through that permit process.

If everything goes as planned, demolition of the old building could be done by the end of the year, with the new businesses opening in the spring.

He said the new tenant will also reconfigure the lot, including curbs, gutters and sidewalks.

“Once they get it done, it’s going to best looking corner of the four there,” Martino said.

Is downtown MH preferable to Gilroy?

“I live in Gilroy and I have a number of friends who live in Morgan Hill. They will not come to Gilroy, but they think its perfectly OK for me to visit them in Morgan Hill. What’s up with that?”

Red Phone: Dear What’s Up, Red Phone is caught between a rock and a hard place. Red Phone visits friends in Gilroy quite often, of course they have a pool. Do you? That might get your friends to head south.

Red Phone doesn’t know your friends, but can only assume they enjoy the ambiance of Morgan Hill more than they do Gilroy? Do they enjoy visiting downtown?

Maybe they enjoy the local restaurants, sports bars and cigar shops here. Fact is, downtown Morgan Hill is preferable to downtown Gilroy, at least at this point.

Anyway, hope that answers your question, good caller.

Road will be repaved soon

“Recently there was Road construction done to East Dunne Avenue near Nordstrom School and the road now is really bumpy. It doesn’t look like they repaved it well. I am wondering if they are going to fix the work and have it all smoothed out?”

Red Phone: Dear Will it be Fixed, Red Phone contacted Mario Jimenez, a junior engineer with the city, who said the bumpy sections you are referring to are temporary and normal for underground construction projects.

“After all the underground work is complete, the temporary paving in those bumpy sections will be replaced with permanent pavement,” Jimenez said.

There you have it, good caller. Your drive should get smoother soon.
