Life long Hollister resident Annie Paura passed away at her residence Thursday morning Feb. 25th at the age of 83 years. She was a graduate of Hollister Schools. Annie’s working career spanned 37 years in the canning industry, first working for Fairview Packing Company and retiring as a Supervisor for Tri-Valley Growers. Her memberships included Sacred Heart Church, the Spanish Lodge (Sociedad Espanola De San Benito); the Y.L.I, I.C.F. SIRS, and the Golden Years Travel Club of which she was a founding member and continued to belong to until her health did not permit her to do so. Annie enjoyed traveling, her trips to Reno and the casinos, her trips abroad, as well as taking her “girl friends” to her home in Twain Harte and to the Black Oak Casino. She could be found with her friends as an avid supporter of Sacred Heart Parish Bingo. Annie was one of the principle partners of Betabel R.V. Park in San Juan Bautista. She was the spouse of the late Peter Paura who passed away January 23, 1993.

She is survived by her son Frank Paura of Hollister and daughter Debbie Overweser and son-in –law Stan of Spreckels; her grandchildren Jarrod Dike, Brandon Dike (Amanda), Justin Dike, and Leslie Fisher; her sister-in-laws Carmen Medina and Judy Medina; and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by brothers Tony and Frank Medina and sisters Manuella Clayton and Dolores Medina. Friends are invited to a celebration of Annie’s life on Friday, March 5th at 10 A.M. at Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home 870 San Benito St., Hollister. A reception will follow.
