“Red Phone, will new businesses and restaurants go in at Target Phase II? If so, do we know which ones?”
Red Phone: Dear Which Ones, Red Phone contacted Garrett Toy, Business Assistance and Housing Services director for the city of Morgan Hill, who said to call Jim Stevens at Browman Development to discuss as he’s handling the leasing. Stevens said there are two vacancies in Phase I left to fill, then they’ll concentrate on Phase II. “We’re just focused on Phase I,” he said. “There’s not really a time frame for Phase II.” He did say that a Dickey’s BBQ is opening in June.
The original Dickey’s opened in Dallas in 1941, with a simple goal – “Serve barbecue so good people will crave it. And don’t make ’em wait too long to get it,” according to the company’s Web site.
Good caller, hope that answers your question.
Flying Lady planes at museum
“Red Phone, what did the owners do with all of those beautiful planes that circled the Flying Lady restaurant. We loved flying there for lunch. Thank you.”
Red Phone: Dear Miss the Place, Red Phone contacted Julie Belanger, the daughter of former owners Irv and Jan Perch, who agreed that those were good times. After getting a degree in public relations she returned home and got a job washing dishes. “Dad said he didn’t need another executive.” She also was a lunch cook, a “terrible” waitress, hostess and banquet coordinator.
As to your question, Belanger said most of the 108 planes went to the antique museum at the South County Airport in San Martin and many are still there. A store in Carmel bought 10 or so, and others were purchased by collectors her father knew.
Another interesting note, the planes, most one-sixth size with wing spans of three to four feet, flew around the room on a modified dry cleaner rack.
“The restaurant was famous for being the only restaurant to grace the cover of Dry Cleaners International,” she said.
Good caller, that should answer your question.
