In a move to learn more from their customers, the Santa Clara Valley Water District is sending out surveys to its more than 4,000 well owners in South County.
The surveys are qualitative, not a scientific poll, according to water district spokesman Marty Grimes. He said the surveys are a first for the water district that is trying to better serve its customers.
Questions range from asking well owners if in the past year they had heard about groundwater charges and how well the water district does at managing water resources. It also asks people to rate the water district on a variety of topics, including dam safety, communicating with well owners, water conservation efforts and protecting groundwater quality.
The water district provides water supply and flood protection to the county’s 1.8 million people. The agency employs about 750 people and manages an annual budget of $305 million.
