The first marching band competition for the Live Oak Emerald Regime spelled out victory at the Gilroy Garlic City Fall Festival Saturday night, where they took first place in all categories in class “A” competition. The Emerald Regime competed against Independence and The Kings Academy high schools. With an overall score of 69.40, the Emerald Regime outscored all 25 bands competing in their class. The 50 members of the Emerald Regime were lead by drum majors, senior Stacy Lammers and junior Megan Hartman. The band’s show, titled “The Ascent”, featured the songs “Orawa” and “Adagio.” A percussion feature and a solo by Nick Pusateri also punctuated the show. Their victory is the end result of more than 150 hours of practice.

The next two competitions will be Nov. 6 at Independence High School in San Jose, and Nov. 13 at James Logan High School in Union City. The culmination of the marching season will occur at the Western Band Championships in Fresno, Nov. 20 and 21. In his third year of directing, Jason Locsin is very proud of the Live Oak Emerald Regime.
