Dear Red Phone, the city street lights are out on the west side
of Monterey Road between Fourth and Fifth streets, all of them.
It’s the block with the Methodist Church and the new Bubbles Wine
Bar. Any idea if anyone from the city has noticed or are planning
to fix them?

Red Phone: Dear In the Dark, Red Phone contacted Maintenance Supervisor Anne Beale, who said the recent outage on the west side of the block between Fourth & Fifth streets was due to a blown fuse.
The fuse has now been replaced and so the street lights are again working, she said.
“Residents are encouraged to report street light outages via the city website or by calling Public Works Operations at 776-7333,” Beale said. “It helps to state the location and also pole number if possible. We really appreciate the efforts of residents who call in outages and do our best to get the lights back on quickly.”
There you have it, good caller. The lights are back on. Don’t hesitate to call the next time you see lights out.
Remodeled San Martin Cafe open
“The San Martin Cafe has a sign outside that says ‘Opening Soon,’ but that sign has been up for several months. When is soon?”
Red Phone: A few months ago, Red Phone responded to this caller and reported that the cafe owners were in the process of remodeling the old restaurant, but had yet to get the “final signoff” on the project, according to Mary Haywood in the Santa Clara County planning department.
Red Phone continued to investigate and learned the cafe began serving lunch last week and will begin serving dinner Thursday.
The entire cafe has been remodeled, they now serve beer and wine and are under new management, according to Fiorella Biondi, assistant manager.
So there you have it, good diners. The cafe has reopened.
Drive on down to San Martin and give it a try.
