Clara County just before 9:15 a.m. this morning, according to the
U.S. Geological Survey.
A 3.1 earthquake shook east San Jose in unincorporated Santa Clara County just before 9:15 a.m. this morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake had a depth of 5 miles beneath the surface. It was felt the farthest away at San Jose City Hall, 9 miles away. According to the USGS, the temblor was felt as far east as Milpitas about 8 miles away from the epicenter and as far south as Alum Rock Avenue about 5 miles away.
