Hollister – Magnificent weather, a record turnout of golfers, and a net of $30,000 for charity capped the 14th Golf Classic to benefit the Rotary Club of Morgan Hill Friday at San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister.
“Not only did we build the number of golfers to 132, everyone agreed this was the most fun tournament we have ever had,” Carl Reinhardt, Rotary Club of Morgan Hill’s President-Elect and tourney chair said.
The all-day event featured a shotgun start, putting green and driving range contests and complimentary golf wear and accessories.
There was no winner in either of the two hole-in-one contests, so the prizes of a Harley-Davidson Low Rider motorcycle and Cadillac SRX will return to next year’s tournament.
This year’s Classic added new features including the opportunity to measure distance and accuracy on a golf simulator.
The simulator experience marked the local debut of the system, which is partially manufactured and nationally distributed from its Morgan Hill headquarters.
The Tournament concluded with a three-course awards dinner, auction and a performance by comedian Paddy Morrissey.
Major sponsors were Johnson Lumber Ace Hardware, George Chiala Farms, Guglielmo Winery, Loring Ward Advisor Services, Morgan Hill Times and Reinhardt Newquist Potts Advisory Services.
Proceeds from the Classic benefit the local charitable giving programs and service projects of Rotary Club of Morgan Hill detailed at
