Mitey Mites With a special Saturday game, the Raiders headed
north to face the highly touted Coyote Creek Wildcats number two
team. The Raiders faced the Coyote Creek number one team weeks
earlier in a game they dominated.
Defense was the tune of the day, the Raiders used the bend don’t break theme while pitching there third shutout in a row. On the first series Hunter Sutton, Andrew Knight, Tyler Hill made nice solo tackles. The Wildcats got a first down but couldn’t break through for a second as Frankie Palmer and Clayton Howard assisted each other, sandwiching the inside run, for short gains. Palmer and Howard also got a half sack each later in the third quarter teaming up again.
On third down, Anthony Villarreal made the stop to force the punt and the offense got it’s first chance. A big block by Andrew Martinez and Daniel Minix got the Raiders a third and short but gave the ball away on a fumble. The first two series ended with Raider fumbles.
With a fired up defense, the offense had its best showing of the day, but were unable to capitalize. Despite good runs by Deric Taylor and Flanker Tyler Lerma and strong effort from quarterback Jerry Jacobs, the second fumble of the game ended the drive. Later in the half S. Villarreal made key tackles, but they were unable to make anything happen before the half ended.
Jonah Guary came out as the featured back in the second half and sliced and diced his way through the Wildcats secondary. Johnny Ruiz also had a nice run but, a holding call on third down killed the drive which had ate up most of the third quarter.
Late in the third quarter, the Wildcats had the ball inside the ten, but a strong defensive stand yielded no points. The Raiders held on to win the game.
Half Moon Bay 28, MH Raiders 0
The Jr. Pee Wee (Silver) Raiders lost to Half Moon Bay 28-0. The Raiders confronted a very tough opponent in this game. Half Moon Bay took the opening kickoff and proceeded to execute a long offensive drive for the first score. The Raiders answered back driving 60 yards for an apparent tying Touchdown. However, the Raiders stalled at the half Moon Bay 15 yardline on a fourth and 5 play. Half Moon Bay scored once again, and the Raiders could never get back in the game after that.
Offensively for the Raiders Tailbacks Dylan Glines and Kyle Lappano contributed tough rushing yards. Glines gained 38 yards and Lappano gained 36 yards running the ball. Rhett
Ramirez totaled 12 yards rushing as both fullback and quarterback.
Defensively, Strong Safety Rhett Ramirez made eight tackles. Free Safety Kyle Lappano had six stops. Defensive Tackle Taylor Ricketts had four tackles. Linebackers Brett Jackson and Jacob Martin and Cornerback Alec Mainland, made 3 stops each.
Dylan Glines, Ryan Clare, Patrick Hanne, Justin Hill, and Jonathan Molina all made two tackles apiece. Brian Celestino, Darryn Diaz, Danny Galli, and Dalton Holt all had one stop. Holt also recovered a fumble.
Black Raiders 8, Pacifica 0
The Black Raiders recorded its fourth shut out of the season with an 8-0 win.
Pacifica opened up the game with a 35-yard drive that stalled on Morgan Hill’s 20 yard line, which ran eight minutes off the clock.
In Morgan Hill’s first drive, offense linemen David Carrillo, Shawn Circuit, Carlos Naranto, Matthew Ruiz and Aaron Wallace opened up a huge hole for Julias Travis, for a 70-yard touchdown Julias finished the day with 135 yards rushing.
In the second quarter, Christian McCrimon and Julio Aguayo ran the ball very well in the middle. Quarterback Zachary Valana, connected with Derek Hoekstra for a 15-yard pass to end the first half.
In the second half, the defense took total control of the game and did not allow a first down. Defense linemen Chris Gomez, Ryan Hannings, Ryan Roth and Blair Zeff pressured the quarterback all day long. Michael Della Maggiore and Christian McCrimon did not allow any Pacifica receiver to get on track and made some great open field tackling.
Linebackers Jordan Lozada, Derek Hoekstra, Julio Aguayo and Rickie Martinez made some ferocious hits. The linebackers smelled out anything and everything that Pacifica had to dish out. Gage Bryan and Ryan Capozza capped the scoring with a safety in the fourth quarter. Martinez battled down the Tiger Sharks with the last pass to end the game.
Morgan Hill travels to Half Moon Bay to play the 3rd undefeated team in a row this Sunday at 12 p.m.
