The ever-popular Young Artists
’ Concert of the South Valley Symphony will be held at 3pm
Saturday, Feb. 12, in the Gavilan College Theater according to
Music Director and Conductor Henry Mollicone.
The ever-popular Young Artists’ Concert of the South Valley Symphony will be held at 3pm Saturday, Feb. 12, in the Gavilan College Theater according to Music Director and Conductor Henry Mollicone.

Two soloists will be featured accompanied by the orchestra. Oshagan Merjanian will perform Camille Saint Saens Concerto No. 1 for cello and orchestra while Jamie Pak will be the soloist in Maurice Ravel’s Tzigane for violin and orchestra. Both students have previously performed with the San Jose Youth Symphony, as well as their respective high school orchestras.

Also appearing with the symphony will be members of the Suzuki string programs currently under the direction of their respective instructors including Audrey Gray, Suzanne Lambert, La Rene Green, Julie Long, Marilyn George and Lori Franke. They will present several selections during the concert.

Members of the Morgan Hill Ballet Company under the leadership of Juliet La Pointe-Smith will perform five selections from Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty Ballet Suite accompanied by the orchestra.

Tickets are now on sale at the following outlets in Morgan Hill at the Music Tree and BookSmart; in Gilroy at Porcella’s Music, and California Music Company in downtown Gilroy and Carole’s Hallmark next to Nob Hill, Dorothy McNett’s in downtown Hollister and Mission Galley in downtown San Juan Bautista. Tickets are priced at $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens age 60 and up, and $7 for students ages 12-18.

Members of the Suzuki string players will present a concert just prior to the Youth Concert commencing at 2:15pm in the patio area of the theater.
