Each year, the YMCA conducts a widespread fundraising activity. This year’s kick-off is scheduled for Feb. 3.
This year’s Mt. Madonna Community Support Campaign has an aggressive goal of $85,000. Beginning in February community volunteers will be making personal calls to secure pledges to meet this lofty goal.
The YMCA has already raised $26,000.
“This is a perfect opportunity for our community to support itself by providing the funds that ensure every child and family can enjoy the Y experiences – whether it is a youth sports team, a senior hot lunch or daycare for a working family,” said Cricket Rubino, campaign chairman.
“One exciting thing that is happening this year is the Teen’s Team. This is the first year we have had a team of volunteer teens that will be making calls,” Rubino said.
Teen captain is Anthony Roberts. Other teens are needed to complete the team.
In addition, more adult volunteers are needed for the fund-raising effort.
Angela Moore is the Teams Chair, John Gerhardt is the Triangle Chair, and Rosy Bergin, Nancy Neyer-Kinoshita and Diane Ochoa are division managers.
“Without the leadership of these wonderful volunteers none of this would be possible,” said Executive Director Debbie Cupp.
The Mt. Madonna YMCA, which serves Morgan Hill, San Martin and Gilroy, has been in the area for more than eight years.
In Morgan Hill, one of the most important programs provided by the YMCA is the on-site, after-school childcare held at three public elementary schools – Jackson, Paradise Valley and Barrett.
Pledges of support at the Triangle Level ($1,000) or better have been received from Anritsu, American Investors Co., Virginia Mae Days, Dana Ditmore, Brad Ledwith, Greg Martinez (Gilroy Veterinary Hospital), Dennis Bright, Mike Cox, Laura Sellheim, Robert Graham, Jan Hagemann, Lynn Nixon, Rubino, Bergin, Neyer-Kinoshita, Barbara Frank, Gerhardt, Mary Hoshiko and Cupp.
