Yes, We Do Have Local Flag Football Leagues!
CALLER 1: (In response to a call from a previous Green Phone). We indeed do have a flag football league in Morgan Hill for kids from six to 14. You can find more information at www.southbayfootball.com. My kids have been playing for two years in this league now it’s also co-ed!
GREEN PHONE: Let’s hope that last caller is reading… You can also check out B3 for photos of South Bay Football’s most recent tournament.
CALLER 2: I saw someone had called into the Green Phone saying that their child had just finished up a summer football program with the city and wanted to know if there was any place around that they could participate in flag football. I just wanted to let you know that yes, there is a league and my kids have participated in it and had a lot of fun. The games are held in Morgan Hill and if anyone’s interested they can go to www.southbayfootball.com. They are already taking sign-ups for the fall 2006 season. My kids have played both in the summer season and in the winter season. You can also sign up, I believe, in Morgan Hill at Glory Days Pub on Monterey Road.
GREEN PHONE: There you have it. Visit www.southbayfootball.com or Glory Days and all your flag football needs shall be met.
Don’t Pick on Sweeney
CALLER 3: I’d like to respond back to the message left last week about Justin Sweeney being in the police blotter. First of all, why would you care? I find it very frustrating that someone would even leave a message for the Green Phone to ask such a question. He’s a kid and let me tell you that there are several kids that have done the same thing and they either didn’t get caught or they just didn’t have some jerk trying to make this a bigger issue than what it is. It was a prank that got blown out of portion. Let’s keep the Green Phone open for positive energy! If you don’t have anything positive to say, then don’t say it. Having said that, you can rest assured that you will read about the talented Justin Sweeney in the upcoming issues of the Morgan Hill Times once the football season starts. Go Justin!
GREEN PHONE: Yeah, often pranks get out of hand that involve causing significant financial damage to private property, Caller 1. Oh, and let’snot mention his history of poor sportsmanship and me-first attitude on the field. Or the fact that Sweeney is actually NOT a kid anymore. Soon-to-be college football players – even the great ones – are no longer allowed to hide behind that excuse. We hope Sweeney turns things around at Gavilan College and does something productive with his extraordinary talent. Meanwhile, remember, “Not words, but deeds.”
