The Angels got three runs after two were out in the first. Andrew Perez walked, Joseph Rodriguez singled, Bryan Freitas walked and Ben Nuno doubled in the last run of the inning.

In the third, Robby Yamat led off with a single, Tommy Naranjo reached on a fielder’s choice and Bryan Freitas singled them both home.

Yankees’ starting pitcher Jason Struzik pitched three innings and struck out seven. The Yankees woke up in the fourth when Nathaniel Batad reached on an error and Christian Davies-White grounded out to bring him home, spoiling four solid innings by Yamat.

In the fifth, Tyler Pederson was hit by a pitch, advanced on Calvin Nuttall’s first hit of the season, and both scored when Jesse Lares grounded to third and the throw was wide of first base and out of play. Lares later scored on Batad’s single. Lares singled home Pederson, who had doubled in the sixth to add an insurance run.

Lares ended the day with two hits and three RBIs, and Pederson scored twice. Three Yankee relievers combined for four innings of shutout pitching, allowing only two hits. After Taylor Pullen shut out the Angels in three innings of relief, Matt Bellah and Batad came on to finish it off for the Yankees.

Tigers 10, Marlins 7

The Tigers came from behind to gain the Pony Division win Sunday.

The Tigers scored one run in the second inning as Mitch Crowley doubled and Nick Blocker had an RBI single.

A four-run third inning put the Marlins ahead. Jim Hagan and Nick Swanson singled and later scored. Isaac Allen and Trenton Cisewski also scored.

The Tigers regained the lead in the 4th behind singles from Jackson Gion, Patrick Hanne and Josh Freitas. Gion, Hanne, Freitas, Nick Blocker and Omar Hussein all scored. The Tigers added to their lead in the top of the fifth with singles from Wes Guild and Blocker and a double from Crowley. Guild, Ty Gardner, Crowley and Blocker all scored to give the Tigers a 10-4 lead.

The Marlins chipped away in the bottom of the fifth with Conor Havstad and Nick Swanson reaching on fly balls to right. Trenton Cisewski and Brenden Stocksick had sacrifices to drive them in.

Swanson retired the Tigers in the top of the 6th, and Garrett Taylor of the Marlins walked and scored to make the game 10-7. The Marlins then loaded the bases in a two-out rally. Omar Hussein made a game-saving catch on a towering fly ball to end the inning.

The game was then stopped after 6 innings because darkness.

Jackson Gion pitched three innings of relief to earn the win.
