The Gavilan College women’s volleyball team closed out the first half of Coast Conference play with a four-set victory (23-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-17) against West Valley on Friday night in Saratoga.

The Rams, 11-5 overall and 4-1 in conference, are in second place behind Cabrillo College, who handed Gavilan its lone loss last Wednesday.

The Rams back row had a big night with three players registering at least 20 digs. Libero Shayna Nakata posted a team-high 22 digs, while Liz Hermosillo and Jaclyn Lantis had 20 apiece.

Gavilan begins the second half of conference against Hartnell on Friday in Salinas.

The Rams cruised past Hartnell in the teams’ fist meeting, sweeping the match 25-16, 25-18, 25-19.
