Around the Water Cooler

• Hank Miller: Absolutely! What better use of our tax dollars could there possibly be than to support our fantastic library. Seems to me to be a great investment with a guaranteed return.

• Heather Crossen: Yes, unless there is another suitable source of funding to replace the parcel tax the parcel tax should be extended. The public library system is a valuable resource for our community and ought to be supported.

• Matt Wendt: Yes. I will support the library parcel tax by voting for Measure A. Measure A is especially important to me as a board member of the Morgan Hill Library Foundation.  This is not a tax increase, but a continuation of the existing tax at the same rate. The library parcel tax has been in place for the past 20 years and is due to expire. Without taxpayer funding, our library will be forced to make significant cuts to programs and services. All of the money collected is returned to the Morgan Hill Library for books and other materials – one out of four books are currently paid for by this tax. The tax also currently supports one to one and a half open days per week at the Morgan Hill Library.

• Mark Grzan: Yes, I will support a parcel tax but not to protect libraries as they are but to invest in libraries of the future. The world has changed. Libraries are no longer the center or source of information. Libraries must transition to a local center of culture, from passive to active events, programs, and social opportunities. If they do not change this investment will be a waste.

• Gabriel Madrigal: “… not all leaders are readers, but all readers are leaders.” Unfortunately, not every homeowner relies on the services of our library. I love reading , but every day that goes by people depend and lean on technology – even for reading – it would be like us getting taxed by cigarettes companies when we do not need or use their products. My answer would be NO.

• David Cohen: Yes, because a strong, well financed library is an asset and important to the fabric of Morgan Hill.

• Karen Anderson: Yes. Voted for it before and the need is still there. It is a bargain and gives us some decent hours.

• Martha Artiles: Yes I will support the library tax. It is such a vital element of our community and provides critical access to our citizens especially those that would not otherwise be able to use a computer, stay current with literature and expand their perspective. It is also a very important gathering space.

• Rene Spring: Yes, go for it! We have a library here in Morgan Hill that we can be proud of. It provides an important service to our community!

• Bert Berson: Yes. I am there once a week getting books. The library has become a center of the of life in Morgan Hill The level of service is excellent. It is an institution to be proud of.

• Julian Mancias: No. I never use the library.

• Kathy Sullivan: Yes. The library is the biggest bargain this city has. I won’t even feel it since this is an extension and not a new tax. I would be willing to double the amount if we could have our wonderful library open more days.
