We are at war! Against terrorism? A war that might never end.
As I sit here reading the Morgan Hill Times, I love reading the Opinion Page.
I spy an article about “Sedition”. Morgan Hill must be a more exciting place than I have heard about. The part about the Espionage Act of 1918 was news to me (honest I had never thought that I would need to read ). Then again my brother, an ex-Air Force major, probably has. I never did know what he was working on. But every once in a while we would play tag with the men in gray. I always enjoyed walking up to them, and talking to them.
Talking about history – ever hear about the coup 1911-13? One of the most important things to hit the United States since the Civil War. Still haven’t a clue? If not, then ask the I.R.S. about its humble beginnings.
In 1969 I watched the Selective Service (commonly referred to as the draft bord) hold bingo tournaments (the birth dates were put on ping pong balls). The first one up that year was mine – July 11. I remember thinking, “I’m dead”! Because at the time a newbie’s life expectancy in Vietnam was two weeks. Replacement bodies they were called. Things didn’t happen that way, thank God. Instead I was later beaten unconscious and almost murdered at a union meeting in Los Angeles.
Now there is a war on terror. My only question is, what will the definition of terror be in one or two years? Two days ago anyone accused of terrorism, as I understand it, is no longer protected by the Constitution. Remember young Walker? I sometimes wonder if he was working for the CIA.
There are rumors that Hussein and Bin Laden were at one time also employed by our great nation. You don’t think they might still be?
I do under stand that our nation, with work and loving care, can be one of best on the planet Earth. Or will it succumb to fear and terror?
