Crews from CalFire, the Morgan Hill Fire Department and the South Santa Clara County Fire District responded to a vegetation fire that began yesterday in a mobile home located off Uvas Reservoir near Eastman Canyon Road, according to Battalion Chief Jim Crawford.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Crawford, who said the fire began a little before 2 p.m. Crews worked at the scene until about 10 p.m., he said.

No injuries were reported. More than an acre of land was burnt and the mobile home unit was destroyed, according to Crawford.

Eight engines, three water tenders, two bulldozers, air tankers and a helicopter responded to the scene, Crawford said.

“We’ve got a pretty good handle on it,” Crawford said yesterday around 2:20 p.m. “It’s in an unprotected area of Santa Clara County as far as fire protection goes. It took us about 15 minutes to get there and we’ve made pretty good progress.”
