Thanks in advance for all the support for this year’s South Valley Wine Auction that begins at 7 p.m. Friday. Most of our auction materials are now in. We have a very unusual selection of large format bottles which in truth cannot be purchased on the retail market.
We will have a wide range of large format bottles and vintage wines including a 1985 Joseph Phelps Insignia, one of Napa Valley’s finest ever, a standard 750ml bottle, a Flora Springs 1999 Magnum of their flagship wine, “Trilogy”, a double magnum (3 liters) of local favorite Guglielmo Winery’s 1998 Santa Clara Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, another double magnum from award-winner Gallo Sonoma’s single vineyard 1997 Stefani Vineyard Chardonnay, a 5-liter Robert Mondavi 1997 Carneros Pinot Noir, and finally our “Big Bertha”, a 9-liter C.H. Mumms Cordon Rouge Champagne, (a case in one bottle.)
We have other large bottle formats and other rare library wines including a 1986 Beringer Private Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon which was Wine Spectator’s Wine of the Year in 1990, and a Magnum autographed and dated by Robert Mondavi of his 1999 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
We encourage any wine aficionado who seeks unusual large format bottles and hard to find vintage wines to join us in this event to benefit Live Oak High School’s Athletic Running Programs to attend. We will feature 10 local and regional wineries and nine local restaurants in this food and wine fest to be held at the Morgan Hill Cultural and Community Center at 7 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $35. For information on tickets, call 778-9501.
