135385~We don
’t want Las Vegas casino next to Hollister—Dear Editor, In her
recent Opinion page column on Indian casinos Lisa Pampuch, the
typical “political correct” Libertarian, “liberal,” maintains
“American history is replete with mistreatment of indigenous
people: Broken treaties, forced reloc
ations, destroyed cultures and on and on … . “ Those “political
correct” today keep preaching this mantra. Oh, we must “give back”
for our “imagined” wrongs.
What do you mean we don’t owe Indians anything? We stole their land. We gave them small pox. We forced them to live on land we didn’t want ourselves. We massicred them in the thousands during the Indain wars. Yea they committed some killings of their own, but who started it? And who do you think taught them to scalp? The Indians have suffered so much at the hands of the white man. In those same history books you claim to have read, did you read about the Trail of Tears? How we forced the Indians to march from Flordia to Oklahoma most of whom died on the way? So maybe you don’t want a casino near Holister, thats fine. But to pretend that the Indians brought all the suffring they endured and continue endure on themselves is appauling! You may think Lisa Pampuch is wrong but you sir are a redneck and a racist. I don’t care that you are a marine that doesn’t give you the right to claim that the white man is better and the Indians are cry babies who had it coming. Thank you for your service in the marine corps, but please before you shoot off a letter, get your facts straight.
