This one had to hurt.Live Oak outhit Westmont 10-4 Tuesday and yet the Warriors were able to come away with a 3-2 Blossom Valley Athletic League Mt. Hamilton Division win.
Westmont scored single runs in three of the first four innings and made the margin stand up behind Kyle McDonald, who went the distance. McDonald pitched in and out of trouble all game, but went the distance allowing 10 hits, walking one and hitting a batter. He also struck out six.
Eight different Acorns had hits. Eddie Gomez and Stephen Smith each had two hits, including a double. Cameron Willis also reached base twice with a single and getting hit by a pitch. Smith and Willis scored runs. Adam Perez and Willis each drove in runs.
Jason Brady went 2 for 3 for Westmont with a double and run scored. Kyle McDonald also had a double and run scored. Max Rao drove in a run and scored one without an official at bat as he walked twice and hit a sacrifice fly.
Live Oak is now 14-6 overall, 11-4 in BVAL. The Warriors, who had lost twice to the Acorns earlier in the season, are 6-12, 6-6.
Live Oak has three games next week, starting with a 3:30pm contest Monday against Willow Glen.
