Cajun food coming soon to Morgan Hill

Red Phone, my friend and I attended the Mushroom Mardi Gras and
there were no fresh mushrooms for sale (or deep-fat-fried
mushrooms). Lots of strawberries, blueberries, jewelry, crafts,
etc., etc., etc. Only two food vendors supplied mushrooms in their
menu which is pretty sad, I think. After all the event is
advertised as the Mushroom Mardi Gras. What happened?

Red Phone: Dear ‘Shroom Fan, Red Phone must respectively disagree with your perception of the festival. Red Phone saw stuffed mushrooms, mushroom chow mein, Cajun deep-fried mushrooms, mushroom cheesesteak, blackened shrimp and mushroom stick, fresh fried mushrooms, grilled portobello and blue cheese burger, sauteed mushrooms on garlic break and pork and mushrooms over rice. While you are correct in that there were no fresh mushrooms – Red Phone’s willing to bet you could have found them at the Farmer’s Market, which took place on Second Street Saturday – there were plenty of menu items that included mushrooms.

Hope that helps, good caller.

Curious as to limit on W. Edmundson

“When I moved here 21 years ago the speed limit on West Edmundson was 55 mph, typical unmarked highway speed.

After realigning with Tennant Avenue and a new development sprang up, a 35 mph sign was installed in front of Community Park; however, there is no indicator of where that speed limit ends. I do not believe it is 35 mph all the way to Oak Glen Avenue, yet many drive that speed under the impression that it is. My question is this: where does the 35 mph speed limit end? I have tried in vain to find a city or county office to address this. Thank you!”

“Red Phone, who do I contact to find out the speed limit on West Edmundson Avenue (past Community Park)?”

Red Phone: Dear What’s the Limit and Who Do I contact, Red Phone got in touch with Jaime Rios of the California Highway Patrol, who said the speed limit on W. Edmundson is designated at 35 mph.

“The speed limit will generally remain the same unless stated otherwise,” Rios said. “Since there is no sign that states ‘End of 35 mph speed limit,’ the speed limit will remain the same until the road ends at Oak Glen Avenue.”

As a regular traveler along that stretch of road, Red Phone is dismayed to learn the speed limit is 35 mph. It should be 45 mph past the park all the way to Oak Glen.
