Left, retired Morgan Hill resident Lee Walton was inducted into the San Jose State Hall of Fame during halftime of the Spartans 42-30 loss to Nevada on Thursday. The 68-year was joined by 49er quarterback and Gilroy native Jeff Garcia in the Hall of Fame. Walton coached the San Jose State men’s water polo team from 1961-72 compiling a 349-115 record. Walton coached the team to victory in the first national collegiate men’s water championship in 1968. He was an alternate on the 1956 U.S Olympic team and a member of the 1958 national AAU championship team. His athletes were recognized as All-Americans 49 times, and 12 went on to play for the United States National team.
