Volunteers are urged to join the search for Sierra LaMar or any evidence pointing to her whereabouts Saturday.
Anyone who is 18 or older with a valid ID can help Sierra’s family, joined by the KlaasKids Foundation, in the search for the missing teen by showing up to Burnett Elementary School, 85 Tilton Ave. in Morgan Hill from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Sierra, a 15-year-old cheerleader and Sobrato High School sophomore, has been missing since March 16. Police think she was kidnapped and murdered by Antolin Garcia Torres, 21 of Morgan Hill, though they have not recovered her remains.
The teen was likely kidnapped while she was walking to her school bus stop near the intersection of Palm and Dougherty avenues in north Morgan Hill, according to police.
Authorities do not think Sierra and Garcia Torres knew each other or had any friends in common before she was reported missing.
Santa Clara Sheriff’s deputies and divers searched Chesbro Reservoir in west Morgan Hill earlier this week in an effort to find Sierra or evidence related to the case, but did not report finding anything. The sheriff’s dive team initially searched from the surface of the water body using sonar picture devices, and then sent divers in to follow up on some of the images.
Anyone with information on Sierra’s possible whereabouts can contact the sheriff’s tip line at 299-2311 or
