A 17-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of raping a 15-year-old Morgan Hill girl he had been drinking with Thursday night, according to police.
At 8:35 p.m., police received a call reporting an unconscious female in front of an apartment complex on W. Fourth Street.
When officers and paramedics arrived they found the female was intoxicated and transported her to Valley Medical Center. During her treatment, it was discovered that she was possibly raped, police said.
According to witnesses the 17-year-old suspect and victim knew one another and had been consuming alcohol together earlier that evening, Morgan Hill Police Sgt. Jerry Neumayer said. Police think the rape happened at an apartment complex off Barnell Avenue. The victim and suspect met up earlier in the night in Morgan Hill, then went to an unspecified location in Gilroy. They ended up at the apartment complex in Morgan Hill, where they consumed alcohol.
Police do not know how the teens acquired the alcohol, or what kind of alcohol they were drinking. They also do not know how long they knew each other before the incident.
The male suspect, also from Morgan Hill, was eventually arrested on suspicion of raping an intoxicated person and booked into juvenile hall.
Anyone with information regarding this rape can call Morgan Hill Police Department Detective Luis Espejo at (408) 779-2101 or the anonymous tip line at (408) 947-STOP (7867).
