Morgan Hill
The Hollister teenager believed to have driven the getaway car in a Morgan Hill bank robbery was arrested.
Juan Ceja, 18, is the fourth suspect to be arrested in the past week for his alleged involvement in the Feb. 5 heist of Bank of America at 101 Vineyard Town Center.
Ceja was arrested Wednesday at his home in Hollister by deputies from the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office.
Following the arrests of three other Hollister teenagers, one of whom is a juvenile, police issued a $250,000 felony warrant for Ceja’s arrest Tuesday, according to Morgan Hill Police Sgt. Jerry Neumayer.
Ceja was transferred to MHPD custody after his arrest, then transported and booked into Santa Clara County Jail.
On two separate days last week, Morgan Hill police acted on information from an anonymous caller who identified the four suspects.
Arrested Tuesday, March 10 were a 16-year-old male whose name police withheld and Leonel Acosta, 18, for conspiracy and robbery, Neumayer said. They were arrested at a residence in Holllister. Acosta was booked into Santa Clara County Jail, and the 16-year-old was booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall.
On Thursday, March 12, police arrested the third suspect, Jose Cervantes, 18, at another residence in Hollister. He has been booked on charges of robbery, burglary and conspiracy, according to Neumayer.
Police now believe they have apprehended all the suspects involved in the bank robbery.
In photos taken from Bank of America security video footage, the 16-year-old and Cervantes are seen inside the bank, with the juvenile demanding money from a bank employee and Cervantes standing watch by the front entrance. Neumayer said Acosta and Ceja were waiting in a vehicle that was parked on the street, with Ceja in the driver’s seat.
The bank teller who was approached by the robber told police during their investigation that he handed her a note telling her to give him money. No weapons were seen, but the suspect reached to his side, suggesting he might have had a weapon, and the teller handed him an undisclosed amount of cash. The two robbers fled, and it was unknown at the time where they were going.
