MHUSD School Board Trustee Rick Badillo

Trustees Bob Benevento and Rick Badillo sat on the local dais for the last time Nov. 15 as the two board members served out the end of their four-year terms on Morgan Hill Unified School District’s governing body. The terms officially end Nov. 30.
Board president Gino Borgioli read proclamations of gratitude for their service and contributions on the board at the Nov. 15 meeting.
Benevento was appointed to the board in January 2011 and was then elected to one four-year term for a total of five and a half years. In calendar year 2015 until September 2016, Benevento served as board president.
Benevento did not run in the Nov. 8 election and his seat was won by Teresa Murillo, who was unopposed in Trustee Area 7.
Badillo was first elected to the board in November 2012 and served one four-year term.
Badillo did not win re-election in November and his Trustee Area 6 seat was won by Mary Patterson in a three-candidate race.
This was the first year that MHUSD’s board of education seats were broken up into trustee areas rather than holding an at-large election. Candidates must reside in specific trustee areas to run for office. Voters must also live in those areas to partake.
Trustee Area 5 incumbent Tom Arnett won re-election and will be sworn in along with the other new trustees prior to the next board meeting in December.
