Police are searching for two men suspected of trying to lure children between the ages of 9 and 15 in separate incidents in Gilroy.

The most recent incident occurred around 2:49 p.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of Ortega Circle, when a suspect described as a Hispanic male between 20 and 25 years old asked an 11-year-old male, 15-year-old female and 9-year-old female to go with him to a local restaurant, according to the Gilroy Police Department.

The children declined and immediately told a parent. The suspect was seen walking away from the scene and it is not known if he had a vehicle, according to police.

The suspect is described as 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-9 inches tall and approximately 160 pounds. He is believed to have shaved dark brown hair, a mustache and brown eyes. The suspect was wearing a gray T-shirt and khaki jeans, according to the GPD.

Another similar incident took place about a week before, when police said a man pulled up in front of a residence located in the 7600 block of Miller around 4:35 p.m. while a young girl retrieved items from her parent’s vehicle, which was parked in the driveway.

The suspect, described as a Hispanic male approximately 30 years old with a goatee and short, balding hair or a possible crew cut, was seated in his vehicle and ordered the girl into his car but she did not comply, police said.

She ran into the residence and told other family members about the incident. A family member then called the police.

The suspect was seen wearing a white tank top with tan shorts. His vehicle is described as a “dirty” two-door, early 90s Honda, with a white exterior and black-painted roof, according to the GPD.

Police don’t believe the incidents are related at this time.
