City council candidate Larry Carr.

Four candidates will vie for the Nov. 6 election for two seats on the Morgan Hill City Council. Incumbents Larry Carr and Marilyn Librers are running to hold onto their seats, and political newcomers Joseph Carrillo and Matthew Wendt are challenging them for the next four-year term which starts at the end of this year.

As part of the Times’ effort to keep voters informed, we submitted a list of identical questions to all four candidates about possible and likely issues that might keep them occupied if they’re elected over next four years, and how they would address those issues. Plus, we threw in some personal questions to give them a chance to show how much they relate to you.

The top two vote-getters will serve alongside Mayor Steve Tate, who is running unopposed, Gordon Siebert and Rich Constantine – each in the second year of their four-year term.

Larry Carr, 43, is the associate vice president of public affairs at San Jose State University. He has two children, and is running for his fourth term on the council.

Joseph Carrillo, 23, owns and operates a “pedal-powered” handyman service, Grizzly Bear Handyman. Carrillo ran for a city council seat in 2010 and lost in that election.

Marilyn Librers is the executive director of the Pauchon Research Institute. She is running for her second term on the council.

Matthew Wendt, 31, is a real estate attorney and lives in Morgan Hill with his wife Marilyn.
