Riders leave Concord Circle at Specialized Bicycle Components to head out for the 90-mile ride during Bicycling Magazine’s Spring Classic. The event consisted of a 90-mile, 60-mile and 25-mile ride that drew over 700 people.

With Friday’s wet weather not expected to stick around too long, a fun-filled weekend awaits local residents with three community-centered events scheduled through Sunday.
The Britton Middle School’s annual carnival will run from April 21-April 23 on the 80 W. Central Avenue campus with a plethora of traditional carnival games and rides for all ages. It is free admission to the event.
Students can buy unlimited wristbands for $20 pre-sale ($25 at carnival) at lunch times ending today at Britton as well as Live Oak and Sobrato high schools. Also, San Martin/Gwinn Environmental Academy’s Home & School Club will be running a root beer float booth at the carnival.
On Saturday, the Morgan Hill Federation of Teachers will host its inaugural Friends and Family Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at P.A. Walsh STEAM Academy (353 W. Main Avenue).
The celebration of all Morgan Hill Unified School District’s neighborhood schools will include family-friendly activities such as wheel-barrel and three-legged races, informational tables from community organizations and raffle prizes for students.
MHFT is hosting the free event to gather families, friends, educators and community organizations that support public education and our students for a day to celebrate our schools, according to the event details.
On Sunday, Specialized Bicycle Components headquarters (15130 Concord Circle) is playing host to the Bicycling Spring Classic and post-ride festival from noon to 4 p.m. The annual event includes cycling races of 90, 60 and 25 miles featuring world class riders as well as a family-fun 5-mile ride.
Specialized, which donated $5 for every registration to support Morgan Hill Unified School District, will host the “Community Zone” with activities including a bike skills course for kids to improve their riding, a bounce house and a chance to connect with community organizations and public service agencies.
“Got a bike sitting in the garage? Bring it with you and we’ll get it ready to ride again…for free,” states Specialized in its announcement.
