Morgan Hill – A man believed to be a transient died Saturday morning while in an ambulance on his way to Saint Louise Regional Hospital, according to Morgan Hill police Sgt. David Swing.

Morgan Hill police officers responded to a call at approximately 8:35am from the All Parts Auto store on Monterey Road and Spring Avenue about someone suspected to be under the influence of alcohol.

“The officers felt something wasn’t right about the man,” Swing said. “Instead of taking him to the station for booking, they thought he might need medical attention and called EMS.”

The man died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, Swing said.

The Santa Clara Çounty Coroner’s Office said Monday they could not yet release the man’s name, age or the cause of death, pending notifiication of his next of kin.
