The Morgan Hill School District will begin accepting Choice Placement enrollment applications on Thursday, Jan. 8, from parents who are interested in having their children enroll in a district school outside of their assigned home attendance area.

Parents may apply for transfer to a different school for the remainder of the 2003-2004 school year or for the upcoming 2004-2005 school year. Application forms will be available at all school offices and at the District Office, 15600 Concord Circle, beginning the week of Jan. 5, 2004.

Assignment applications will be date stamped as they are received at the District Office. The district does not provide transportation outside of a school’s established attendance area. Parents are responsible for transportation to their Choice Placement site. Once your child is placed at your choice placement school, this becomes their school of residence.

All current applications for choice placement, which have not been approved, expire on Dec. 31, 2003. Parents who have current applications for choice placement on file and who are still interested in a Choice Placement must submit a new application for your requested site.

• Parents of students who have been placed at a school outside of the home attendance area through choice enrollment at any point in the past do not need to reapply in order to remain at the school of choice. This is now considered your home school.

• Students who were assigned (due to lack of space) outside of their home attendance areas this year will be reassigned to their home school for the 2004-2005 school year.

• Parents wanting their child to remain at the newly assigned school for 2004-2005 must apply for this privilege using the Choice Placement procedures.

The district anticipates having only a minimum number of choice enrollment spaces at select grade levels at certain schools.

There will be no Open Enrollment/Choice Placement space at Nordstrom School for the 2004-2005 school year.
