Live Oak’s Afari La-Anyane competes in the high jump Saturday during the Garlic City Invitational at Gilroy High School.

Live Oak High junior Afari La-Anyane won the varsity boys 110-meter hurdles in 15.57 seconds and placed in two other events Saturday during the Avis Kelley Invitational at Gilroy High.

La-Anyane also was on the 1,600 relay team that finished third in 3:40.67 and the 400 relay team that took fourth in 47.68.

Live Oak junior Will Green was fifth in the high jump at 5 feet, 2 inches.

For Live Oak’s varsity girls, senior Huafa Saulala won the discus at 100-11 and took fifth in the shot put at 31-3 ½. Acorns freshman Shannon Hoyle was fourth in the varsity girls 3,200 in 12:39.73 and sixth in the 1,600 in 5:35.05.
