Westbound traffic on Dunne Avenue was backed up to U.S. 101 Friday morning due to a three-car accident at the intersection of Butterfield Boulevard and Dunne.

The driver of a white Ford pickup truck traveling south on Butterfield attempted a left turn onto Dunne at about 10:44 a.m., but collided into the driver door of a silver Honda minivan traveling north instead, according to Morgan Hill Police Cmdr. David Swing.

The minivan’s driver tried to swerve right to avoid the collision. Swing said that this, combined with the impact of the truck, caused the van to collide with a blue Honda sedan. The crumpled minivan and sedan came to rest next to the sidewalk on the northeast corner of the intersection. The truck sat in the northbound traffic lanes north of the intersection.

Swing said there were no visible injuries, only complaints of pain. The female minivan driver and her two-year-old son were transported via ambulance to a hospital.

Eight officers responded, and the traffic light was turned to flashing red as officers directed traffic and a clean-up crew swept the intersection of debris.

As of 11:30 a.m. the vehicles were being towed.
