Supporting dog wash, dog park

Dear Editor,

I would like to thank The Pet Station, the DOG Group, the volunteers, and all of the wonderful auxiliary groups who made the May 15 dog wash such a time of fun and learning. I had no idea about the work that had been done for an off-leash dog park here.

I was accustomed to taking my dog to Hellyer Park in San Jose because I know the benefits of having a place to take dogs, just to run. They are pack animals, who love to play, and benefit from the experience. The one thing I have never seen in a dog park are barking canines.

I was also impressed by the support of local pet docs, the Gilroy Police K-9 unit and the support of the community. We had to park a half mile away just to enjoy.

Morgan Hill is always progressive. I love living here.

Wood to build worm boxes

Dear Editor,

I want to thank store manager’s Alex Spino and Joseph Medley of Lowe’s in Gilroy for kindly helping to provide our Webelos Den with wood to build worm boxes.

After a fantastic evening with Jim Baggesse of Gilroy who taught the group about the natural process of composting and giving them an opportunity to handle worms and worm castings, heaven for 9- and 10-year-old boys, the den built their own worm boxes. Without Lowe’s help, the den would not have been able to complete this project. So thank you Lowe’s!

Story, pictures on Surf Sol Sisters

Dear Editor,

Lynne and I want to thank you for putting together such a nice article about us that ran May 14 in The Times. It was well-written, quite accurate and very thoughtful. The pictures were great and the coverage for our budding company was awesome. We continue to be impressed by the thoroughness of the team there in researching the subject and taking photos. The quality of the story showed – we have had many comments about it. So, congratulations on a job well done and thank you.

Our best to you. Keep the stoke and be well.

Help with Mother’s Day Breakfast

Dear Editor,

On Sunday, May 8, despite showers and gloomy forecasts, more than 250 South Bay residents came to Henry Coe State Park’s Mother’s Day Breakfast and enjoyed great music, food, and an adventure in the shelter of Coe’s historic barns and makeshift protection rigged by determined and devoted volunteers.

This event could not have happened without the help of many local Coe volunteers and local businesses. We are grateful to Albertson’s, the staff of Live Oak High School kitchen facility, all of Morgan Hill; Novartis Seeds in Gilroy, PW Supermarkets in San Jose, and Davis Poultry Farms in Gilroy. Thanks for coming, thanks for helping, and thanks for contributing. Next year: sunshine?
