A would-be bank robber was talked out of completing the robbery Monday morning, according to Morgan Hill Police Lt. Joe Sampson.
No one was injured in the 11:45am incident and apprehension, which Sampson said was unusually easy.
Daniel Sedillo, 43, of Morgan Hill was taken into custody at the Bank of the West in Tennant Station. According to the report, Sedillo had a knife in hand when he approached a teller and demanded $200.
“The teller began to talk him down out of robbery,” said Sampson. “I’m not sure what the discourse was, but the teller was able to convince him to lay the knife down on the counter. He walked out and stood outside of the bank until the officers arrived.”
Sampson said the FBI does offer classes for bank tellers to help them learn to mitigate a robbery situation, but he did not know if the Bank of the West teller had taken part in this training.
The Bank of the West employee who answered a call requesting information said, “We are not allowed to give out any information.”
Sedillo was being interviewed by the police Monday afternoon, Sampson said, but he believed Sedillo would later be booked into county jail on charges of attempted robbery.
