More than 100 eager teachers stocked up on basic school supplies during the Teachers Aid Coalition’s first giveaway on Feb. 24 at P.A. Walsh Elementary School.

The coalition’s president Roger Beaulieu was on hand to set up the classroom supply freebie event, along with its founder Dr. Jon Hatakeyama and Morgan Hill Unified Superintendent Dr. Wes Smith.

Hatakeyama said teachers not only expressed their gratitude during the event, but that the event expressed congruently how appreciative the public was of the teachers’ efforts.

“When our teachers feel they are supported by the public, our schools will continue to improve,” according to the Teachers Aid Coalition’s overarching mission, “When our schools improve, benefits flow to our children and our community. When this happens, local citizens and organizations rise up to create more good things for our community.”

The Teachers Aid Coalition urges the public to support organizations, local professionals and businesses who invest time and resources to our public schools.

Participation by Smith speaks volumes of his efforts to improve the public education system, Hatakeyama added.
