The Morgan Hill Makos left the July 7-10 Junior Olympics at Frank Fiscalini International Swim Center with seven medals and two new qualifiers for the Far Western Championships in Kaela Nguyen and Abbey Pfefferlen.

Morgan Hill’s contingent included Daniel Pawlak, Brittney Malick and Pfefferlen in 15- to 16-year-olds; Tanner Fry, Jarod Hatch, Kaitlin Rooney and Nguyen in 11- to 12-year-olds; and 10-and-unders Brandon Pride and Omar Insignares, who accounted for all of the Makos’ medals.

Pride placed second in the 400-meter freestyle, fifth in the 100 free and sixth in the 200 free. Insignares took third in the 50 and 100 butterfly, fifth in the 200 individual medley and right in the 200 free.
