MORGAN HILL — The Morgan Mill Makos hosted the first meet of the short course season and shattered more than 250 personal-record times in 303 races Labor Day weekend in the Aquatics Center.

The Makos’ contingent of 57 swimmers totaled a new qualifying time for the Far Western Championships, eight Junior Olympic standards, 29 new A times and 25 new B ones.

Chris Critzer, 8, earned new A times in the 25-yard freestyle, 25-yard butterfly and 100-yard individual medley, and 13-year-old Chan Taylor followed suit in the 50-yard free. Nicole Critzer, 8, collected new A times in the 100 IM, 25 Fly, 25-yard backstroke and 50-yard breaststroke. Ricki Cruz, 11, did the same in the 100 IM, and Alyssa Greymont, 13, in the 200-yard fly.

Zachary Greymont, 14, bettered the standards for two new A times in the 200-yard back and 200-yard IM and added a new B time in the 100-yard fly. Jarod Hatch, 11, reeled off new A times in the 50- and 100-yard free to go with new B times in the 100-yard breast, 50-yard back and 100 IM.

Mackenzie Mitchell, 12, added a new B standard in the 50 back.

Hannah Pfefferlen, 8, exceeded the B standard in the 50-yard breaststroke, Michelle Pham, 15, scored new A times in the 100- and 200-yard free, and 8-year-old Bryn Rasmussen swam to new A times in the 100 IM and 50 breast and new B cuts in the 50 fly, 50 back, 100 breast and 200 free.

Macquelin Soliman, 10, exceeded new A times in six events: the 50 and 100 free, 50 and 100 breast, 50 fly and 100 IM. She added a new B time in the 50 back as well. All of Macquelin’s times were personal bests.

Jessica Carbonell, 15, collected new B times in the 100 breast, and 100 and 200 free. Sierra Ceballos, 9, did the same in the 50 back and 100 free, and Summer Ceballos, 6, in the 25 back. Owen Fry, 9, earned a new B time in the 100 breast, and Kendal King, 8, garnered two new B times in the 25 and 50 free.

Max Klein, 8, met the B standards in the 25 and 50 free as well. Karrine swam to two new B times in the 25 back and 25 free. Michael Pham, 8, got a new B time in the 25 free. Ricardo Ramon, 7, bested the time for a new B time in the 25 free, and Ryan Reagan, 7, earned a new B standard in the 25 back.

Christiana Bridges, 14, added some shorter events to her usual distance standards with Junior Olympic-qualifying times in the 200 back and 100 free.

Omar Insignares, 10, scored his first JO cut in the 50 fly, added three new A times in the 100 and 200 IM, and 50 breast. He had the ‘perfect’ meet, with eight PRs in as many events. Abbey Pfefferlen, 12, raced to two new JO times in the 200 IM and 100 back.

Sesa Ferdun, 12, raced to a new Far Western-qualifying time in the 50 breast and added three new JO times in the 100 and 200 IM, and 50 Free.

More than 700 swimmers from about 60 teams entered the meet, which showed that age group participants in Pacific Swimming are improving as fast as any local swim committee in the U.S.
