Morgan Hill Police responded to the area of Britton Middle School on a report of a suspicious package Monday morning, but the item was determined to be an empty fireworks container, according to authorities.

MHPD said in a public safety alert posted online at 9:53am Sept. 25 that officers were investigating the suspicious package on or near the school grounds at 80 West Central Ave. Students and staff at Britton sheltered in place while parents were advised to avoid the area during the brief investigation.

About 10:30am, MHPD posted that the item was an empty fireworks container and there was no threat to the area. The school day resumed as normal, police said.
