Morgan Hill – A teenager was stabbed multiple times late Saturday night but survived the attack, according to Morgan Hill police Cmdr. David Swing.

The stabbing occurred at 11:15pm on the corner of Fountain Oaks Avenue and Hill Road in west Morgan Hill. The victim, a 17-year-old male, was walking on Hill Road with a 15-year-old male when they noticed a Honda Civic stop on the side of the road. As the car stopped, five or six males jumped out of the Civic and ran towards the two teens. As the victim reached the intersection, he was tackled on the sidewalk by the suspects, who began stabbing him in the torso and arms nine times.

The 15-year-old was not attacked. No weapon was found at scene.

Another vehicle pulled up to the scene, Swing said, and the suspects split up into the two vehicles and left the scene. The two teens then walked to a nearby home and called 911.

When police and fire responded, paramedics treated the 17-year-old victim before he was flown by CalStar to a trauma center. Swing said he was later released from the hospital, but his injuries could have been very serious.

The incident is still under investigation, Swing said, but there may be one primary suspect police are considering.

“We don’t believe this incident was precipitated by a gang matter,” he said.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to contact MHPD Det. Melinda Zen at 408-776-7323 or after hours at 408-779-2101.
