Morgan Hill – A San Jose man was arrested early Thursday morning after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend as they traveled south on Santa Teresa Boulevard towards Morgan Hill.

Ramiro Orozco, 29, was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for alleged assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury.

The incident began in San Jose, as Orozco, his girlfriend and the girlfriend’s 3-year-old niece were driving south. Orozco and his girlfriend allegedly began arguing, and Orozco allegedly threatened to kill his and his girlfriend’s children.

At some point during the trip, Orozco allegedly stabbed his girlfriend. As Orozco reached Morgan Hill, he apparently slowed down to turn around at the intersection of Hale Avenue and Llagas Road, and his girlfriend jumped out of the vehicle. She was at the entrance to the Shadow Mountain Baptist Church, and an off-duty Saint Louise Regional Hospital nurse was with her when Morgan Hill police officers were contacted at approximately 9:36pm and arrived on the scene.

Orozco fled in the vehicle, and the victim’s niece was still in the vehicle. San Jose police officers were notified, and MHPD officers attempted to locate Orozco and the toddler. The victim, who received multiple stab wounds, was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

The intersection at Hale Avenue and Llagas Road was cordoned off as police contacted HazMat to clean the area and reopened at approximately 11:30pm.

Back in San Jose, Orozco met his sister at a restaurant and turned the niece over to her. He was taken into custody at approximately 1:42am.
