Sunday evenings just got even better with Gilroy Community Services’ Summer Concerts in the Park series starting June 13.
The concerts take place every second Sunday through Sept. 12 at Christmas Hill Park from 5-7 p.m. Admission is free.
Coming back for their third year, The Corvairs kick off the series with a diverse mix of tunes from a previous era.
“The 50s and 60s had such a tapestry of music, and we try to hit all of those,” said Gary Lafaille, leader of the cover band. “You never know which song is going to strike a memory with someone.”
All five members of the band live or used to live in Gilroy, making Sunday’s concert “like playing on your own home turf.”
The concert series has been a popular weekend activity for over 25 years.
Concessions like popcorn, nachos and soda will be available, and concert-goers are welcome to bring picnic dinners. Proceeds from the concession stand will benefit the Gilroy Youth Center.
Acts will play on the park’s amphitheater. Tiered seating is available.
On July 11, the old school Funk, Soul, Dance and R&B band, JUZ-CUZ of Morgan Hill, will play. Aug. 8 will feature Santana tribute band Ritmo while country band Silver Creek will play Sept. 12.
