A 40-minute board study session on Naviance, a college- and career readiness platform that helps connect academic achievement to post-secondary goals, is planned between the Sept. 19 closed and open session in the upstairs conference room of district headquarters.
The board will learn from district staff about the adopted software program being used for students in local schools.
“It’s comprehensive college and career planning solutions optimize student success, enhance counselor productivity, and track results for school and district administrators,” the agenda reads. “Naviance enables schools and districts to create personalized success plans for each of their students, and aligns to many state mandates for individual learning plans.”
The board will take a brief recess prior to the start of the regular portion of the Sept. 19 meeting, which will be held at the 15600 Concord Circle district office boardroom. Closed session begins at 4:30 p.m. and public session at 6 p.m.
On Tuesday’s general business agenda to be discussed publicly are:
• Results from a Project Cornerstone Developmental Asset Survey conducted in Spring 2017. The survey polled middle school and high school students, presenting a variety of situations at home and school. Linda Row, MHUSD’s Director of Student Services and Enrollment, is expected to lead the presentation.
• Public hearing to adopt resolution regarding sufficiency of textbooks and instructional materials, which means “that every student has a textbook or instructional material to use in class and to take home to complete required homework assignments,” according to the Sept. 19 agenda item labeled as G2.
• An item named “Right Sizing the Budget” will be presented by MHUSD Assistant Superintendent Kirsten Perez on “ensuring the district’s financial stability” with three-year financial projections.
• A request for board approval on the issuance of the $80 million worth of 2012 General Obligation Bonds, known as Series B, of the Measure G fund.
• Measure G Bond Quarterly Update report by MHUSD Director of Construction and Modernization covering the initial $55 million Series A monies. Of that total, $50,112,549 million has been spent as of Aug. 31, according to the agenda item.
